The
significance of the kisan movement extends beyond the
immediate context. It obviously is a climbdown by the
Modi government in the face of the incredible resoluteness
shown by the agitating peasants. At another level it
has been a setback for the neoliberal agenda that the
farm laws were seeking to promote.
